On Monday, September 8th, 2014, The Macon Volunteer Clinic surprised and recognized Dr. Homer S. Nelson, MD, by dedicating and naming the eye clinic in his honor. The new name of the clinic is Dr. Homer S. Nelson Eye Clinic.
The Macon Volunteer Clinic, located at 376 Rogers Ave. Macon, GA 31204, has been open since 2003, and provides much needed services in Middle Georgia.
Dr. Nelson, who is a lifelong resident of Georgia, began work at Eye Physicians Professional Association (EPPA) in 1962, and after 35 great years retired in 1997.
In his career he was an Ophthalmologist, a volunteer position he still holds today at the MVC. Dr. Nelson still sees patients, and is a caring and giving physician dedicated to eye care.
Dr. Nelson is married to Kay Nelson.
At the dedication, hosted by Clinic Executive Director Cile Lind, and Clinic Medical Director Lynn Denny, MD, cake and a light lunch were served to the guests, family and friends of Dr. Nelson.
